Here’s a kiss for all of you who have downloaded my songs! You can’t imagine how much I appreciate you. After all, it takes a lot to make a record. It takes time. It takes bravery. And let me tell you friends, it takes a LOT of money. Oh sure, you can do a little recording in your apartment with a few friends on the cheap. But when you’re going for gold, going for radio, going for the charts, it takes a lot! It also takes a lot of people to make it happen! And at the base of it all, it starts with a song.
Once I wrote “Slow Burn,” it started an avalanche of excitement that no one ever expected…certainly not me. This journey has taught me so much about myself and about trust and going after what you want. And it really all comes from YOU taking a chance on yourself. Sure, I might have written “Slow Burn” in my apartment by myself. But if I hadn’t had the nerve to share it with my producer, it would have been sitting in a drawer somewhere. So let this story be an inspiration to all of you out there who have a dream and a song in your heart.
On first listen of Slow Burn (which by the way, I sang a capella…meaning there was only a melody and lyric) Joe wrote me back immediately and said, “This is super hot. Super sexy and yes!” And so the journey began. And from there, the village began building.
First there is Joe Vulpis…my producer extraordinaire. (he’s on the left)
Joe set up a band tracking session with Grammy award-winning musicians to bring the music to life…We flew to Nashville to play with these awesome guys!..That makes six more people, plus Rory the engineer who is taking the photo)
Then I had to cut vocals and we hired a background vocalist! 7
Next Joe brought in two programmers to bring more sound to the song Adrian “AHawk” Melendez and Mike Lorello. 9
And then the song had to be mastered. And of course why WOULDN’T you have one of the top Grammy award-winning mastering engineers master your song? Of course we got Tom Coyne from Sterling Sound to make it soar even higher! 10
Now you might think that was the end! But remember I also made a full music video…again with top people to bring the video to new heights. I hired Bob Ridge and his videography team, Angela Talley to photograph it all, plus five actors, a choreographer, a makeup/hairstylist and a wardrobe supervisor and a personal assistant to help me get everything together. That’s another 12 people for a total of 22 people.
Once we pitched the song to radio and they loved it, we got 25 top radio promoters across the country to join out team! 45
Then came the press…several people who jumped on board to help us promote the record 49
And last, but certainly not least, my sole radio investor who fronted the entire campaign. And that makes 50.
One song. Fifty people who believed. Grateful.
